Hooda to finalise report of Working Group on Agriculture
Chandigarh, Aug 30 : Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who is Chairman of the Working Group on Agriculture Production, would finalise the Working Group’s report within a week, which would be later submitted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for consideration.
A decision to this effect was taken in the second meeting of the Working Group on Agriculture Production presided over by Mr Hooda here today. Mr Hooda suggested that the country needed to launch a technology mission on farm mechanisation to cross the productivity barriers. He also pointed out that the methodology adopted by Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) for calculating cost of cultivation was highly flawed and unscientific.
Youth found dead in Punjab in suspected honour killing
Chandigarh, Aug 30 : A man in his mid-20s has been killed in Punjab’s Sangrur district, police said Monday and suspected it to be a case of honour killing. The body of Raja Ram was recovered early Monday by his relatives and the police from railway tracks in a village near Sangrur, about 130 km from Chandigarh. A police official investigating the death said Raja Ram got married with Manjit Kaur last month against the wishes of her family. Ram’s relatives allege that he was killed by the Manjit Kaur’s family members.
Online registration in employment exchanges in Haryana
Chandigarh, Aug 30: Now the employment seekers in Haryana would not have to come to the office of employment exchanges to get their names registered, as online registration facilities are being provided to them with effect from September one. Stating this here today, Labour and Employment Minister Mahender Pratap Singh said that all the services of the department, such as registration of job seekers, registration of employers and posting of their vacancies, vocational or career guidance, disbursement of unemployment allowance and employment market information would be made available to the public online through its website portal www.hrex.org.
From September 1, jobs seekers could get themselves registered online on this web portal by clicking on ‘Candidate registration’, said Mr Mahender Pratap Singh. After registration the applicants would have to send the attested copies of their testimonials to the local employment exchange for validation of their registration.
The applicants who were already registered with the different employment exchanges would also have to register themselves online on this portal, Mr Mahender Pratap Singh said. The Minister said that once the database was built up on the site, the employers could also register themselves on the site from October 1 and thereafter could post their vacancies on line.
At the click of the mouse they would be able to get the bio data of the candidates against their vacancies. The employers could also send their periodic return online. Through vocational or career guidance, the applicants would be able to know about the various educational fields available to them. They would also get to know the career opportunities
available to them, he added.
